“Conecuh Brands is bringing J.&J. McConnell’s Irish Whisky back to life 60 years after the original distillery folded. Conecuh says the brand—which spells “whisky” without an “e” in a nod to the original product—was at its peak in pre-Prohibition America and is returning to the U.S. after a 90-year absence. The new release is distilled at Great Northern Distillery and aged for five years in American oak before bottling at 42% abv. The brand will continue to be produced by Great Northern until Conecuh’s new Belfast distillery is completed. McConnell’s Irish Whisky retails for a suggested price of $33 a 750-ml. Conecuh’s portfolio also includes Clyde May’s whiskey and Prospero Tequila.”
